Trust appoints independent histopathology review group

University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust has appointed the independent, external panel that will review its histopathology services following allegations of misdiagnosis.

Chair of the review group is Jane Mishcon, Counsel at Hailsham Chambers, London, a barrister with 30 years experience across a wide range of cases involving most clinical specialities.  She has chaired nine independent inquiries and her main area of practice is clinical negligence. Jane is ranked as a leading barrister in both the Legal 500 and Chambers UK.

Bristol patients show off their artwork

Artwork designed by patients at Bristol General Hospital will be on display at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trusts Education Centre this Thursday. ˜The Masks We Wear exhibition will be open from 11.00am to 3.00pm.

The central focus of the work on display is the ˜Mask Project created by previous patients as a way of expressing their experiences and time in hospital.

Since 1989 the service has completed approximately 450,000 screens on women between the ages of 50 and 70 within the Avon area.

University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust has been given a clean bill of health by the Care Quality Commission after rigorous inspection of its infection control procedures.

The Care Quality Commission inspected hospitals within the Trust on 13 May 2009 and found no areas for concern.
