North Bristol NHS Trust now delivers the vascular service for
Bristol, North Somerset, Bath, North East Somerset, South
Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Please see the website here.
These changes will bring together specialist teams from across
the region to improve the quality of inpatient surgical care you
receive.
A specialist vascular surgeon and specialist vascular
interventional radiologist will be available 24/7 to manage
vascular emergencies and post-operative complications at the new
unit within Southmead Hospital. It will also provide a 39-bed
dedicated vascular ward, specialist amputation rehabilitation and a
state of the art £1.5 million investment in a 'hybrid' operating
theatre for the delivery of less invasive procedures. The new unit
will provide a regional complex aortic aneurysm service and have a
sufficient volume of activity to improve patient safety and
outcomes.
We understand this means a change for you and your relatives or
carers, but where possible you'll still be looked after by the same
team that you are used to.
