Bristol Limb Reconstruction Service

The Bristol Limb Reconstruction (Limb Recon) Unit is based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) and provides a service for adult patients.

Conditions managed include:

Elective (planned)

  • Lower limb deformity (including rotational / axial malalignment)
  • Longstanding Bone infection
  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Post-traumatic deformity

  Trauma (urgent)

  • Complex lower limb trauma
  • Fracture related infections (in combination with Orthoplastics)
  • Non-union and implant failure
  • Peri-articular fractures requiring circular frame fixation

Outpatient clinic appointments take place at the BRI at A312 T&O Outpatients.

Consent clinics for any scheduled surgery will take place at Gate 12, Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital.

Surgery will take place on Level 3 Theatres, Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital.

Follow-up appointments after surgery will take place at the BRI at A312 T&O Outpatients.

Frame classes take place at the BRI Physiotherapy Dept, A101.
