Dr Matthew Roy
MRCP
Training:
I qualified from the University of Bristol in 2004. My early
training included time spent working in Australia and I then
completed my rheumatology training within the South-west region. I
was awarded MRCP (Rheumatology) and have been a Fellow
of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) 2017 - 2023. I
have been a full-time consultant rheumatologist at Bristol Royal
Infirmary since 2013.
Areas of interest:
- Osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease - I run a weekly bone
health clinic and report DXA scans for the trust.
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound - I run a weekly diagnostic
ultrasound clinic and am EULAR (European League Against Rheumatism)
accredited to intermediate level.
- Rheumatology transition - I see young adults who have
transferred their care from the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children
to adult services. I run a transition clinic 4 times per year.
- Undergraduate teaching - I am a specialty tutor for the
University of Bristol medical school and regularly teach and
examine undergraduates as part of my job. I completed a
postgraduate certificate in medical education at the University of
Bristol in 2012 and have held an honorary senior clinical lecturer
post since 2013.
