MATS
The Bristol Community Health MATS and Spinal
Service
Patients with general musculoskeletal and spinal problems such
as osteoarthritis can be referred to the MATS team by their GPs.
The MATS team includes a Consultant Physiotherapist, specialist
GP's, Extended Scope Physiotherapists and Extended Scope
Podiatrists who all work together to provide a coordinated service.
At Hampton House the MATS service provide an Ultrasound Clinic,
where patients can be injected under guided ultrasound.
Patients may be referred onto a hospital for a surgical opinion
if indicated. In some cases patients will be referred to
Rheumatology if there is concerns there could be an inflammatory
arthritis such as Rheumatoid Arthritis. Patients with
osteoarthritis would usually be seen just within the MATs pathway
and would not require review within Rheumatology.
