Dermatology on call services

University Hospitals Bristol provides the Regional Dermatology on call services for GPs and hospital specialties.

Hours of Service

09.00-17.00hrs : Monday to Friday

There is no on call on Saturday or Sunday

How to contact

UHBristol.

If you think that the patient needs admission, please contact  UHBristol switchboard 0117 923 0000 requesting the on call registrar. GP calls will be responded to directly or via a call back system when message and direct contact number left -  depending on staff availability. The call back system has additional options available for those who are acutely unwell with a skin disease.

Non-urgent contact can be made with Teledermatology, using UHBristol eRS Dermatology Advice and Guidance or Rego, depending on the GP locality

Urgent Teledermatology consultations can be made with the UHBristol Dermatology "oncall Advice and Guidance" option on eRS

Criteria for urgent "on call Advice and Guidance"

  • Advice is needed urgently to care for a patient
  • The care is needed to avoid serious health risk

For enquiries concerning care of specific patients, GPs are encouraged to contact the named contact person in the clinic correspondence using either the trust switchboard or the telephone number on the correspondence.

Telephone contact: Southmead

if your patient is under the care of the Dermatology services in Southmead or is an inpatient in Southmead, please contact the Dermatology secretaries in Southmead Hospital

Telephone contact: Somerset

if your patient lives north of Taunton please use the contact arrangements as for UHBristol. If they are south of Taunton, please contact Dermatology at the Royal Devon and Exeter via switchboard.
