Help for specific groups of patients
Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OOHCA)
All patients who were on intensive care after a cardiac arrest
should be offered an appointment with the Critical Care Follow-up
service. If you have not been offered an appointment, please
contact us by email: icufollowup@UHBW.nhs.uk

ECMO
ECMO is a specialised life support system used to take over the
work of a patient's lungs. It is used when usual treatments, such
as oxygen and ventilation, are not working.
We know it can be a very stressful and frightening time having a
relative or friend on ECMO. The doctors, nurses and other ICU staff
will be able to answer any questions you may have. More information
is also available in our ECMO
leaflet for patients and families.
