profile/background:
Dr Michelle O'Keeffe completed her
psychology training in Perth, Western Australia. After qualifying
with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2014 she began her
career working with patients with eating disorders and supporting
people with learning disabilities. After moving to Bristol in 2015
she worked in weight management, eating disorders and health
conditions. It was whilst treating people with heart conditions
that Dr O'Keeffe became interested in the field of cardiology. In
2017 she was appointed as Specialist Clinical Psychologist for the
Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Service at University
Hospitals Bristol. In this role she set up and runs the ACHD
Psychology Service in which she supports patients to cope with the
social and emotional impact of their congenital cardiac conditions.
Dr O'Keeffe is a member of a team of Cardiac Clinical
Psychologists in the trust who provide psychological support to
congenital patients across the lifespan. Dr O'Keeffe is accredited
with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member
of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
