Bristol Eye Hospital appoints first Eye Clinic Liaison Officer

University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Emma McKeown as Bristol Eye Hospitals first Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO).

After working in the role for two months, Emma completed a four-day Eye Clinic Studies Course on 2 December. This Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) qualification was awarded by City University London.

Trust improves energy performance by 25%

An independent energy survey of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust buildings shows that energy performance has improved by 25% compared with the previous year.

The report, produced by carbon reduction company Sustain, uses Display Energy Certificates to show how much energy is used to operate a building. This is then compared against a benchmark which represents performance indicative of similar buildings.

Bristol Dental Hospital Wins National Award

Nikki Rogers, dental nurse tutor at Bristol Dental Hospital,Nikki part of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, was named ˜Dental Care Professional Teacher of the Year at the 2010 Dental Defence Union (DDU) Educational Awards. 

Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre (BHOC) wins top award and a commendation

Jancis Kinsman, Advanced Practice Therapy Radiographer, and the team at the BHOC, part of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, have won ˜Best Patient Support Initiative in Oncology at the 2010 Excellence in Oncology Awards for ˜One of a Kind! A guide to radiotherapy.

A University of Bristol public lecture will explore what genes are, how genes are found for particular conditions, and how by improving the understanding of inherited heart disorders patients and families can be better cared for.

Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre (BHOC), part of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, has been nominated for two awards in this years Excellence in Oncology Awards, to be presented by the British Oncological Association and Pfizer on Tuesday, 9th November 2010.

BHI wins regional architecture awards

 

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) honoured the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI) at Tuesdays South West Town and Country Design Awards. This came a year to the day after the BHI was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal.

The ceremony, which was held at The Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare, saw the building winning the The Ibstock Premier Award " the top accolade. It also won best Public Sector building.

The Annual Members Meeting for University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust will take place on Wednesday 22 September 2010 from 5pm at the Trusts Education Centre on Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol.

The meeting will hear about the work of the Trust in 2009-10, and the audience will be invited to put questions to the Trusts Board.
