First UK Orthodontic Therapists Graduate from Trust

The first students to become qualified Orthodontic Therapists have just graduated from the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trusts Bristol Dental Hospital. Orthodontic Therapists are a new group of Dental Care Professionals created by the General Dental Council. They can assist dentists in carrying out orthodontic treatment and provide some treatment themselves.

Rt Hon Dawn Primarolo, MP for Bristol South and Minister of State for Public Health, officially opened Bristols new Sexual Health Centre on Thursday (18 September).

University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - Annual Public Meeting 2008

The Annual Public Meeting of the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust will be held on Tuesday 23 September.

The meeting will start at 6pm at the UH Bristol Education Centre, Lecture Theatre 1, Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol.

This meeting is open to members of the Foundation Trust and to the public.

Chief Executive Dr Graham Rich will present an overview of the past year and look ahead to the plans for the next 12 months.  Copies of the annual report for 2007/2008 will be available at the meeting.

West Country actor opens state-of-the-art medical scanner

West Country actor Charles Dance has officially opened a new £750,000 state-of-the art SPECT/CT (single photon emission computed tomography) scanner at the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trusts Department of Radiology at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

Specialist neonatal transport service reaches 100 emergency referrals

A Bristol-based emergency service that transports sick, newborn babies between hospitals for specialist care has just completed its 100th emergency retrieval.

Bristol Royal Infirmary Accident and Emergency Nurse Nominated for Prestigious Award

Emma Fisher, 26, a staff nurse who has worked for University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust for the past five years, has been short-listed for one of the most prestigious nursing awards in the UK.

Emma was nominated for the ˜Accident and Emergency category in the Nursing Times Awards, due to her innovative work to improve procedure for tissue and organ donation.

WRVS volunteers raise £250,000 for UH Bristol

Womens Royal Volunteer Services (WRVS) volunteers at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust have raised £250,000 to help make hospital environments better for patients.

This huge sum will be presented at a celebratory tea party for the volunteers on 20 August at the Trusts Education Centre.
