Meet the Team

There are several surgeons and orthodontists who perform orthognathic treatment.  Other members of the orthognathic team include junior doctors and dentists, nurses, lab technicians, dieticians.

The majority of the treatment at University Hospitals Bristol is led by the following Consultants:

Dr Kate House - Consultant Orthodontist -   BDS, MFDS RCPS (Glasg), MOrth RCS (Edin), DDS (Bristol), FDS Orth RCS (Edin)

Dr House qualified from Bristol University in 1998 and undertook her postgraduate orthodontic training at Bristol Dental Hospital to gain her orthodontic specialist qualifications in 2008. She held an Orthodontic Consultant position at Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals from 2008-2014 before returning as a Consultant to the Bristol Dental Hospital. 

Her specialist interests are orthognathic care and obstructive sleep apnoea. She is the Clinical Lead for the Bristol orthognathic service.

 

Mr Dean Kissun - Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon - BDS, MB ChB  (B'ham)

GMC No. 4409304

Mr Kissun is dually qualified in dentistry and medicine and has been working in the area of maxillofacial surgery since 2000.  He has completed a fellowship in Craniofacial and Aesthetic Facial Surgery.  His specialist area of interest is trauma and facial deformity.

 

Miss Nikki Atack

Miss Nikki Atack Consultant Orthodontist -   BDS (Bristol),  MSc (Bristol), MOrth RCS (Edin),  FDS Orth RCS (Eng)

Miss Atack qualified as a dentist from Bristol Dental Hospital in 1989 and then completed her postgraduate orthodontic studies in 1996.  In 2001 she started working as a consultant in Taunton and Yeovil.  She now works as an Orthodontic Consultant and Honorary Senior clinical lecturer at Bristol Dental Hospital and Taunton. 

 

Mr Christian Day - Consultant Orthodontist -  BDS, MFDS RCPS (Glasg) 1999, MOrth (2003), MSc (Lond), FDS Orth RCS (Edin)

Mr Day qualified as a dentist in 1997 from Bristol University after initially working as a dental technician.  He conducted his Orthodontic Registrar training at The Royal London Hospital.  He then returned back to the south west to complete the final two years of Senior Registrar training in Bristol in 2005.   

Mr Day now works as a Consultant Orthodontist in both the Bristol Dental Hospital and Southmead Hospital, and is the Clinical lead for the orthodontic department in Bristol.
