The daily routine on Ward 78
Throughout Monday to Friday patients regularly go to and from
theatre. Members of our team, including physiotherapists,
occupational therapists and dieticians, also visit the ward during
the course of the day. The only exception to this routine is
during protected mealtimes and rest periods, when all patients are
given the opportunity to rest and no outside visitors are
allowed.
A typical day on Ward 78 would be as follows:
6am - 7am: Morning intravenous antibiotics and routine blood
tests
7.15am - 7.45am: Nurse hand over
7.45am - 8.15am: Breakfast followed by morning drug round
8am - 10am: Doctors round
11.45am - 12.15pm: Lunchtime drug round
12.15pm - 12.45pm: Lunch (protected mealtime)
1pm - 2pm: Rest period
2pm - 8pm: Afternoon and evening visiting time
5pm - 5.30pm: Evening drug round
5.30pm - 6pm: Evening meal
7.45pm - 8.15pm: Nurse hand over
9.30pm - 10.30pm: Bedtime drug round
Drinks are served at regular intervals throughout the
day.
We encourage patients rest and sleep with quiet time from
10pm to 6am.
