About Us
Bluebell ward is our neurosciences with specialties including
neurosurgery, neurology, trauma, spinal, and epilepsy. We also have
a specialist epilepsy surgery programme. We look after patients who
are coming in for planned admissions, take referrals from across
the South West, and see patients who are referred from the
children's emergency department. Our epilepsy referrals can be from
an even wider region than just the South West. We have 12 beds of
which 4 are cubicles with en suites. We look after children who age
from 0 to 16.
Philosophy of the ward
We pride ourselves in providing holistic and family centred
care. We provide high-quality specialist treatment, care, and
rehabilitation. We want to create optimal conditions in order to
see the best outcomes for our patients. You might see all kinds of
staff on the ward including sisters, nurses, nursing assistants,
clinical nurse specialists, and advanced paediatric nurse
practitioners.
Parent and Patient Facilities
There is a parent kitchen in the corridor between Bluebell and
Sunflower Wards. There are toilet and showers on the ward
with additional facilities for parents available on level 6. We
have TVs at every bed space.
Play Facilities
We have a play specialist and play room with outdoor space. We
are located on the same floor as the hospital's main activity
centre.
