Welcome to Bristol's Children and Young People's Cardiac
Service
We hope that the web pages that we have created will help
you find your way through our services and support you with your
journey.
A number of independent reports and findings about services in
the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children were published in June
2016. We fully accept the findings of these reports and
welcome their publication as a way to learn from mistakes. You can
read more about these reports and the actions we are taking
here. In addition there has been a national announcement
about care for complex heart conditions that you may read about. No
changes to services at the children's hospital will take place as a
result and you can read our media response
here.
As the Specialist Children's Surgical Centre, we work
together with your Local Children's Cardiology Centres to provide
cardiology and cardiac care across the whole of the South West and
South Wales.
We offer a wide range of clinical services, from before a
child is born until their transition into adult
services. This involves a large and experienced team of
professionals, including Cardiologists, Surgeons, Clinic Nurse
Specialists, Physiologists and Psychologists to name but a few.

Your opinion is important to us. As part of our ongoing
conversation with families we run listening events around the
region giving an opportunity for families who have used, are
using or planning to use our cardiac services, to talk to our
staff about their experiences and what would make it
better. You can see the feedback from the events so
far
here. We used the points raised at the events
to develop some frequently asked questions with answers from
our clinical team; we will be updating this list after each
listening event but if you can't find your question here, please contact us
directly and we will be happy to respond.
