Transition was good. Everyone was friendly, helpful and caring

TRANSITION

Learning Disability and Autism

Learning disabilities and autism affect everyone differently. Every person is unique, and no two people have the same needs or experiences.

Learning Disability

A learning disability affects the way a person learns new things throughout their life. This can be different for everyone.

A person with a learning disability might find some things more difficult, such as:

  • Understanding complicated information
  • Learning certain skills
  • Looking after themselves or living independently

Some people only need a small amount of support, for example with finding a job or managing money. Others may need more regular or full-time support. You can find more information and support here.

Autism

Autistic people often experience the world differently. All autistic people share some common differences, but autism affects everyone in their own way.

This may include:

  • Differences in communication
  • A preference for routines or repeated behaviours
  • Strong or highly focused interests
  • Sensory sensitivities (such as to noise, light, or touch)

You can find more information about autism and available support here
