Covering multiple specialities across the site at Weston General Hospital and working with colleagues in both inpatient and outpatient areas

The research delivery team at Weston General Hospital work across all specialities to offer our patients the opportunity to take part in research trials, working collaboratively with the teams looking after the usual care of their patients.

We run trials in the following areas; General surgery, Orthopaedic surgery, Anaesthetics, ICU, Oncology & Haematology, Diabetes, General Medicine, Dermatology, Elderly Care & Stroke, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and Public Health trials.

As well as the initial recruitment to trials we complete follow up visits with patients, sometimes for up to 10 years.  The relationship that develops with our research patients benefits them on their patient journey by giving dedicated and extra time with clinicians, taking part in research trials is a positive experience, which has been shown to improve patient outcomes
