We deliver studies in the speciality of adult cardiac surgery,
for which the Bristol Heart Institute is a regional centre.
We recruit patients to interventional trials involving drugs,
devices and surgical techniques, as well as non-interventional
studies, involving blood and tissue sampling, for early phase
studies.
All cardiac surgery patients are screened and wherever possible
offered participation in a study.
We work closely with the University of Bristol on development
through to delivery of a range of studies hosted by the Bristol
Trials Centre and have many research active clinical academics,
leading on a wide range of studies. Additionally, we work closely
with our academic institutions and commercial partners around the
UK and beyond, to recruit to studies within our speciality.
Patients are supported throughout their research journey, some
of whom may be followed up for many years by our dedicated
team.
