CPAP data storage
The CPAP devices we use have two methods of data storage. The
basic SD card system stores data and the card can be uploaded into
our patient system (EVOLVE). This requires either sending in the SD
card or attending a face-to-face appointment.
More up-to-date is telemonitoring. The CPAP has an inbuilt modem
communicating with a cloud-based database. We can remotely access
your data the following morning, so we can review the data if we
need to and upload a report to EVOLVE. We can also remotely
communicate with your device, which saves you having to come in for
a face-to-face appointment.
IMPORTANT NOTES
All data uploaded is safe and this process and systems used in
our service have been approved by the Information Governance Unit
of the Trust and are GDPR compliant. This is regardless of whether
we use SD cards or telemonitoring.
Telemonitoring: Not all of our CPAP
devices have telemonitoring. We are gradually changing over to this
system, but this will take some time to achieve. We do not look at
your data everyday. We only look at your data if you contact us
about a problem, you are due to attend for an appointment, or we
have a legitimate request for information from the DVLA or other
occupational licensing authority.
