Sleep apnoea

The main treatment for sleep apnoea is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), and is prescribed for you under the NHS. You can help manage your problems with some lifestyle changes - such as reducing your weight, taking more exercise etc.

If you are unable to tolerate CPAP, then you can be referred onto the Bristol Dental Hospital who will build you a device called a mandibular advancement device (MAD). Where there are specific issues of your upper airway - nose, back of throat etc, then a referral to an ENT may be possible. There is currently no ENT treatment for snoring or sleep apnoea.
