The oesophago-gastric team actively participate in research to help improve the quality of health care for all. During your care wih our team, you may be approached to consider participating in clinical research. Your decision whether or not to participate in any research will not influence the rest of the care that you receive.

Sunflower Study

As gallstones are such a common problem, and approximately 70 000 operations for gallstones are performed each year in England, this condition is an important are for ongoing research. We are currently participating in a major national study to better understand the need for tests to look for stones that have entered the bile duct from the gallbladder, called the Sunflower Study. You may be approached to consider participating in this study, which will be explained in more detail at that point. More information about the study can also be found on its website, here.
