Dr Amber Young, University Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust

Research Centre Lead

Dr Amber Young leads the clinical arm of the Burns Research Centre. She is a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist and has been Clinical Lead for the South West Children's Burns Network from 1999 - July 2018 and has been a Council Member of the British Burns Association since 2006, leading the Prevention Group of the BBA from 2010 - 2014 and research special interest group from 2015 - 2017.

Senior Research Nurse

Karen Coy is the Senior Research Nurse helping to deliver the clinical research studies for the Centre. She supervises the other Research Nurses and is responsible for coordinating the research projects.

Anna Davies works alongside Dr Amber Young and the Research Nurses at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust on the clinical research projects and grant applications.

Shirin Pomeroy is the Paediatric Burns Specialist Nurse at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and works very closely with the Research Nurses.

Dr Julia Cadogan works closely with the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) team at the University of the West of England and is based at The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Professor of Biophysical Chemistry

Professor Jenkins is the lead of The Biophysical Chemistry Research Group at the University of Bath and a Senior Lecturer.

 

Elizabeth Slade

 

Elisabeth Slade, University of the West of England, Bristol 

PhD Student

Elisabeth Slade's PhD is investigating volatile compounds emanating from wounds (both from model and real wounds) for the rapid identification and detection of dominant microbial species. Her PhD is supervised by Professor Darren Reynolds.

Bethany Patenall, University of Bath

PhD Student

Bethany Patenall is investigating the effects of using hydrogen peroxide producing cold plasma jets on bacterial biofilms. Her PhD is supervised by Professor Toby Jenkins.
