Meet the team
Psychology
Our clinical psychologists
are available to talk with you about different things which can
affect our relationship with food, such as emotions, sensory likes
and dislikes, and other things which can affect the times we eat
and the choices we make such as boredom. It is important to
understand family patterns connected to eating or overeating,
helping families to work together to help one another make changes
which help you move in the direction of your goals. We are also
interested in your mental health and general wellbeing and can
signpost or make referrals to other avenues of emotional or mental
health support if appropriate.
Dietitians
Our dietitians work with
children and their families who have a condition where nutrition
and special diets can be used as treatment. We help families review
their current lifestyle and make changes, especially around diet
and activity to support a healthier weight.
Consultants
Our consultants investigate
the overall health of children referred into our service. They will
look into any possible causes and complications that are associated
with excess weight. They work with the other team members to help
families review their current lifestyles and make changes,
especially around diet and activity to support transition to a
healthier weight. They also decide whether medicines might be
useful to achieve a healthier weight in the right circumstances and
prescribe if considered likely to be helpful.
Specialist Nurse
Our nurse works alongside the
multi-disciplinary team to support children and young people with
advice and guidance while they work towards a healthier weight.
This may include support and training on any medication that may be
prescribed.
Social worker
Our social worker provides
support and advice for children and their families on a wide range
of issues which might include support with housing matters or help
with travel costs for hospital visits. They can also link families
into local support services and activities.
