Miss Clarke has been a paediatric orthopaedic consultant at one
of the leading teaching hospitals in the country since 2014. As
part of her training she undertook fellowships both in the UK and
Australia and has had broad experience in all aspects of children's
orthopaedics. She has a real passion for the care of children with
musculoskeletal conditions and trauma.
Miss Clarke specialises in paediatric trauma including long bone
trauma and periarticular trauma. Other subspecialty interests
include the surgical management of spasticity, including ultrasound
guided awake botulinum toxin injections. As part of the SDR team
she has experience in the complex assessment and treatment of the
musculoskeletal issues after SDR (including muscle lengthening
procedures). Miss Clarke set up and now jointly run the specialist
'SDR/Orthopaedic' clinic with Mr Atherton, the SDR physiotherapists
and our orthotist. She is also interested in the care of upper limb
conditions affecting children, particularly hemiplegic cerebral
palsy.
Paediatric orthopaedics is extremely varied. Having performed
large numbers of all types of elective paediatric orthopaedic
surgery she undertakes regular surgery for conditions affecting the
upper limb such as neuromuscular conditions like cerebral palsy,
and the sequelae of infection or trauma.
