Barth syndrome is a very rare genetic condition primarily
affecting males, approximately 1 in 300,000 births.
The main features of Barth syndrome are:
- Cardiomyopathy, which may require a heart transplant
- Neutropenia - many boys will be on GCSF to maintain their
neutrophil count.
- Global muscular weakness
- Decreased exercise capacity
- Fatigue
