Reviews and reprograming
The child will have a post-operative surgical review at 2 weeks.
The initial post-operative follow up review with the DBS team will
occur approx. 1 month after the device implant. The parameters of
the programming will be discussed and the device switched
on. The process of finding the ideal settings for the DBS
device can take several months and will involve regular reviews in
the Complex Movement Disorder clinic.
They will then have reviews at 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24
months. These reviews will involve a variety of medical,
programming and therapy assessments.
Following this, reviews will be on an annual basis.
