The South West Paediatric Gastroenterology Network
We are aware of the long distances some patients may have to
travel to Bristol. Therefore, we have an established South West
Clinical Network for those requiring long term specialist follow
up.
Most secondary care hospitals have a team led by a consultant in
general paediatrics with a special interest in paediatric
gastroenterology that shares patient care with our department
by reviewing, monitoring and providing specialist treatments
locally as advised by the specialist team in Bristol.
We also run specialist visiting clinics between 2 and 4 times a
year in Truro, Plymouth, Exeter, Torbay, Gloucester and Swindon.
Clinics are held jointly with the local team. Patients can often be
seen locally in these clinics, however, they may still have to come
to Bristol from time to time for specific clinics or tests.
