Research
We are an active participant in clinical research and offer a
portfolio of late phase clinical trials to evaluate established
treatment for patients with solid tumours, biological and
pharmacokinetic studies, and tumour banking sponsored mainly by
Cancer Research UK Clinical Trial Unit in Birmingham University and
the Children Cancer and Leukaemia Group. Bristol is also one of 11
Paediatric Centres in the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre
(ECMC) Network, which runs early phase clinical trials for children
and young people with refractory and/or recurrent cancers and
provides access to novel anticancer therapy.
The Department has special interests in sarcoma, atypical
teratoid rhabdoid tumour and is actively involved in clinical
research on late complications of cancer therapy.
