Cornea

What we do

The corneal clinic manages external eye disease involving the conjunctiva, cornea and eyelid margins, and also assesses external eye disease such as pterygia and marginal lid disease.

Outpatient clinics are held on the Ground Floor of the Eye Hospital.

Conditions we treat

We treat infections such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, Meibomian gland disease, corneal dystrophies and ectasias (for example, keratoconus), conjunctival and corneal tumours and corneal injuries.

Treatments we offer

  • Medical treatment (eg antibiotics, antivirals, antifungal drugs, steroids)
  • Laser treatment (excimer)
  • Surgery including corneal grafting

Patients need to be referred by their GP or by the eye department of another hospital.
