Adult end of life care at UH Bristol
At UH Bristol we recognise the importance of providing high
quality, compassionate and individualised care. This is founded on
and in line with national guidance as identified in the National
End of Life Care Strategy and the Ambitions for Palliative and End
of Life Care.
Within the hospital most end of life care is provided by
ward nurses and doctors, led by the consultant in charge of the
patient's care. If a patient has more complex needs the ward staff
may refer them to the hospital specialist team known as the
Supportive and Palliative Care Team. The aim of the Supportive and
Palliative Care Team is to improve the quality of life for patients
and those closest to them by providing specialist symptom
management, psychological and social support. More information
about the Supportive and Palliative Care Team can be found
here.
