Patient experience initiative shortlisted for national award

Paul Lewis

UH Bristol's Patient Experience at Heart workshops in maternity services have been shortlisted for the 2017 Health Services Journal Value in Healthcare Awards.

Patient Experience at Heart is a collaboration between the Trust's Patient Experience and Involvement Team and maternity services.

These workshops bring together staff involved in all aspects of maternity care, providing an opportunity to discuss service-user experience and how this can be improved.

This programme has made an important contribution to St Michael's Hospital achieving the best service-user experience ratings nationally in the most recent national maternity survey.

Paul Lewis, Patient Experience and Involvement Team Manager, said:

"Lots of great work goes on across UH Bristol to measure, understand and improve patient experience, so I'm really pleased that we're able to show-case Patient Experience at Heart at a national-level.

"After the success of the Happy App at the HSJ awards last year, I'm proud that UH Bristol is being recognised again this year, and I'm hoping that we can follow in the footsteps of the Happy App team by winning this award."

Representatives from the Trust's Patient Experience and Involvement Team and maternity services will be presenting to a panel of HSJ judges in March, with the winners announced in May.
