This week, we welcomed four-time Ironman triathlon world champion Chrissie Wellington to officially re-open our hydrotherapy pool following its refurbishment earlier this year. Chrissie spoke about the power of movement and the support the hydrotherapy pool provides for patients across Bristol and the local community.

Chrissie said "I have been a patient of the physiotherapy department at UH Bristol and soon after my daughter was born, she benefitted from using an earlier iteration of this pool. I know how much hard work has gone into making this a reality.

"This isn't just a celebration just of the facility; the facility is only as good as the staff that operate it. Hopefully we can all celebrate the staff that treat patients and manage the pool for patients and for the whole community."

The event was attended by staff from UH Bristol, including teams that managed the project to refurbish the pool and the staff that treat patients who use the facility.

Scott Allan, head of adult therapy services, said: "We were delighted that Chrissie accepted the invitation to relaunch the Trust's hydrotherapy pool following its refurbishment. The hydro pool is a fantastic specialist resource for patients especially those who struggle with mobility and pain on dry land."
