Children’s cardiac team host Christmas party for past patients
Children with heart conditions got into the spirit of Christmas
this weekend as the children's cardiac team from Bristol Royal
Hospital for Children hosted a party full of cheer.
Over 70 past patients, who have undergone cardiac surgery at the
hospital, attended the event with parents, carers and siblings. In
total, over 250 people joined in the celebrations which took place
in the festively decorated party venue. The party was generously
funded by Bristol Children's Hospital charity the Wallace and
Gromit's Grand Appeal and the venue and disco kindly provided free
of charge by the Royal Marriott Hotel on College Green.
Anna Shepherd from the Grand Appeal, said: "It was a pleasure to
support this wonderful Christmas celebration for cardiac patients
and their families and see them all having lots of fun"
Families got the opportunity to share their experiences with
each other and reunite with members of the children's cardiac team.
Attendees were treated to a magical performance as well as meeting
Father Christmas himself.
William Booth, Matron for children's heart services and the
intensive care unit, said: "What a wonderful start to the festive
season to see so many children we have treated over the past year
at the Bristol Children's Hospital looking forward to Christmas
with their parents and families, it makes all our hard work so very
rewarding having the opportunity to celebrate with them."
