About Us
The Scientific Computing Group is the newest group in Medical
Physics and Bioengineering and was created in early 2017.
This group now consists of a team of highly specialised
computing staff originally taken from across Medical Physics and
Clinical Engineering (MEMO) and then formed into group dedicated to
providing expert advice and support on scientific and medical
computing issues across the Medical Physics and BioEngineering
groups.
At present the group is largely responsible for providing
scientific and clinical computing support to underpin the safe and
effective working of clinical systems in Radiotherapy and
Radiotherapy Physics. Robust and compatible hardware/software
and networks solutions are required to move highly complex patient
data between systems. The design and implementation of both
infrastructure and data integration are pivotal in supporting this
process.
As the group establishes and expands we look forward to
providing a service supporting scientific projects within Medical
Physics and BioEngineering groups and beyond to projects in the
wider Trust community.
