Scientific Support
We provide Medical Physics Expert and scientific support for
Nuclear Medicine departments at BRI and NBT, and Alliance Medical
Bristol PET centre. Scientific and technical support to radiology
includes planning and writing protocols for gamma camera imaging
studies, developing and evaluating software for image and data
display and analysis, audit of clinical image processing and
technical reporting, and computer systems management. Regular
performance checks are carried out on all equipment including gamma
cameras and gamma probes, and help is given to Trusts with
producing technical specifications for new equipment.

In recent years…
We supported BRI Radiology to achieve ISAS accreditation.
We were involved in the decision making and purchase of a state
of the art SPECT/CT and nuclear medicine computer system in 2018-19
at UHBristol, and carried out acceptance testing and
commissioning.
At NBT we supported setting up the new service of penile
sentinel node biopsy.
