About Us

Gallium

The Nuclear Medicine Physics Group provides scientific support to users of diagnostic radioactive sources in Bristol and Weston, radiation protection support including transport to hospitals further afield, management of radioactive materials and waste, and optimisation of clinical protocols.

We provide support to clinical uses of computer systems in nuclear medicine, ensuring that image and data analysis methods are optimised and the maximum information is generated from clinical studies. In-house developed databases are used by other groups in MPB, and by Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Radiotherapy departments. Currently we are making arrangements to ensure compliance with the Medical Devices Regulations which will apply to software from Spring 2020.

We have been carrying out neuroimaging research for over a decade, and support the further development of an innovative clinical service with ongoing research.

Members of the group have been involved in developing national guidelines and are actively involved in research and innovation.
