Improving Children's heart services in Bristol
Today (23 October 2017) we have published "Improving children's
cardiac services in Bristol", a report which looks at the
improvements we have made in response to the recommendations of
independent reviews into children's cardiac services in
Bristol.
The reviews published their findings in 2016, which the Trust
fully accepted. We are deeply sorry for the things we got wrong -
for when our care fell below acceptable standards, for not
supporting some families as well as we should have and for not
always learning adequately from our mistakes.
We have worked with families to learn from their experiences of
our cardiac services and their invaluable input has helped us to
make many significant improvements.
Although we have achieved, and in some cases exceeded, the
recommendations of the external reviews, we know that we must
maintain our focus on improvement. We are committed to continuing
to work with families to ensure that their experiences are as good
as they can be and to ensure our patients receive care that is both
entirely safe and truly compassionate.
