The Trust, which runs eight city centre hospitals including the
Bristol Royal Infirmary, reports business as usual today, despite
the severe weather conditions.
The Trust has comprehensive contingency plans to deal with the
effects of bad weather and these are being put into
place.
Yesterday (Wednesday 5 February), the Bristol Royal Infirmary
Accident and Emergency (A&E) department saw 166 patients and 50
of these were due to a fall with some kind of ankle, wrist, knee or
arm injury. These figures are slightly higher than usual.
We are urging people not to attend A&E departments with
minor ailments. Call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for help and
advice or contact your GP.
