HRH Prince Michael of Kent will celebrate 200 years of visionary
care at Bristol Eye Hospital by unveiling a commemorative plaque on
Wednesday 16 June.
Prince Michael of Kent will be visiting the hospital as part of
his role as Patron of the National Eye Research Centre
(NERC). NERC supports research in institutions throughout the
UK and researchers in the Academic Unit of Ophthalmology at the
Bristol Eye Hospital and University of Bristol have benefited from
substantial support over the years. Prince Michael of Kent will be
meeting researchers, including those from Bristol, who are working
on projects funded by NERC as well as having an opportunity to find
out more about developments at the hospital.
Professor Andrew Dick, Faculty Research Director for Medicine
and Dentistry and Head of Academic Unit of Ophthalmology, said:
"We are delighted that HRH Prince Michael of Kent will be
joining in our celebrations to commemorate the 200th anniversary of
the Bristol Eye Hospital. The Bristol Eye Hospital and University
of Bristol have been fortunate enough to have worked with NERC
closely for many years and greatly appreciate their support.
Through research they have contributed to improvements in care for
our patients."
