Emergency dental care
For emergency dental care, patients must phone 111. This service
is provided to any patient, whether NHS or private, who requires
out of hours dental treatment outside of their normal dentist's
opening hours, or is just visiting the area. Triage will determine
the patient's need and an appointment will be given if appropriate.
Referral is not needed by a dentist.
The cost of treatment for all services and clinics is the same
as at any other NHS dental practice, unless individuals are exempt
from charges, for which proof is normally required.
Urgent dental care
**Please be aware the urgent dental care phone line will
not be in service on Tuesday 23 and Thursday 25 May 2023. On these
dates, please call 111 to be assessed and advised on the best
treatment for your needs.**
At the urgent dental care department, we provide urgent dental
care for patients who are not registered with a dentist. This
service is available via appointment only. Please call 0117 342
9525 (8.30am - 10.30am, Monday to Friday) and you will be assessed
and advised on the best treatment for your needs.
The urgent dental care department is provided by supervised
dental students on a limited capacity of patient slots.
Please be aware we can only accept patients if they have one of
the following;
- Facial swelling, including difficulty breathing, talking or
swallowing (not due to pain).
- Difficulty opening the mouth.
- Severe bleeding.
- Trauma requiring emergency treatment e.g. permanent tooth
knocked out or trauma to the face.
We do not provide a walk in service. Please do not queue
outside the hospital.
Please call NHS 111 if you need support outside of the above
opening hours.
