Conditions
Arthritis is more common than many people realise for young people. Around 1 in 10,000 children under the age of 16 years develop arthritis every year and between 1-2 in every 1000 young people have arthritis. In other words your average secondary school will have at least one person your age with arthritis.
There are lots of different types of arthritis and rheumatic conditions. Some of the most commons one that young people experience are:
- Juvenile Arthritis
- Lupus
- Myositis
Lots of useful information about these and other conditions can be found on the Arthritis Research UK centre for adolescent rheumatology website here.
