Free dental treatment

Free routine dental service by undergraduate dental students

If you do not have a dentist but require routine dental treatment, for example fillings, oral hygiene advice, scale and polish, crowns, bridges or dentures, you may be suitable for treatment by our student dentists, therapists or hygienists.

The service is free of charge. Treatment is provided by a dedicated team of staff and students from the School of Oral and Dental Sciences, one of the top dental schools in the U.K. All student treatment is closely supervised by qualified clinical staff. The service operates most days of the week, but you will need to commit to lengthy appointments and be available to attend appointments on most days of the week.

The needs of our students change constantly. You will only be accepted if your dental needs suit the needs of the student teaching programme at that time. You will be required to attend for a brief dental examination to assess your suitability for student treatment. There is no guarantee that you will be accepted. If you are accepted, you will be discharged at the end of a course of treatment and will not receive continuing dental care.

Further information about this service can be found in our information leaflet.

If you would like to apply for student treatment, you can download a restorative patient self-referral form or pick up a form from the dental hospital main reception. Completed forms should be handed to reception or posted/emailed to the address shown on the form.

If you would like to help us promote this free dental treatment service, an information poster can be downloaded here.
