Urgent care services
South Bristol Community Hospital provides a
walk-in service for minor illness and injuries, based on the
successful service at Knowle West Health Park http://www.knowlewesthealthpark.co.uk/. A Minor
Illness and Injury Unit (MIU) will look after many cases which
currently have to go to emergency departments, such as X-ray and
assessment of injuries, plastering of straight forward broken bones
and the treatment and stitching of straight forward wounds.
Providing the service at South Bristol Community Hospital,
alongside X-ray and GP services enables the unit to see and
treat more people with more complex conditions.
This service sees nearly 900 patients a week; twice that seen by
the previous Walk-in Centre at Knowle and we have plans for a
fracture clinic next to the unit. Some patients with fractures will
be able to have their follow-up appointments in South Bristol.
