Spotlight on the rotational staffing model: switching between clinical and research work
Here at our Trust we implement an innovative staffing model -
staff spend blocks of time away from clinical work on the wards to
concentrate on delivering research studies.
Our research sister Katie Sweet heads a team of research staff
for Critical Care and Anaesthetics. Katie explained how the model
works: "We have two permanent research staff in the team and four
rotating nurses, with two working on research at any one time. They
do three months in research and three months on the ward in the
Intensive Care Unit, on a rolling basis."
