Gastroenterology

General Gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel disease, nutrition service, Intestinal failure, joint bowel cancer screening, transition clinic, Nurse led IBD service.

Hepatology

General Hepatology, liver cancer, liver transplantation, viral hepatiitis, alcohol cirrhosis, haemochromatosis, liver biopies, fibroscans, chemoembolisation, nurse led outreach (viral hepatitis c) clinics

Queen's Day Unit

Oesophago, gastro, duodenoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, Spyglass and endoluminal ultrasonography.

All forms of therapeutic endoscopy including endoluminal stenting, banding, endoscopic mucosal resections and argon beam therapy.

GI physiology including pH manometry, ano-rectal physiology, biofeedback and breath tests. We also offer a nurse led paracentesis service.

Surgery

Oesophageal, gastric, hepato-biliary, pancreatic, colorectal and anal surgery. Minimal access surgery techniques (thoracoscopic and laparoscopic).

Access / Referrals

Outpatient referrals can be made either via Choose and Book system or via letter addressed to the clinic coordinator. Referrals are distributed between all consultants in each team for triage upon receving new requests to be allocated either as Urgent or Routine priority.

Direct access to Endoscopy within the Queen's Day Unit

Direct access for upper and lower GI endoscopy can be made via referral form through the post or electronically via ICE (which can be arranged on a  named GP basis by contacing the administration team)

Urgent referrals can be made by telephone to the appropriate consultant or via the Two Week Wait pathway for eligible patients.

Direct access to endoscopy within South Bristol Community Hospital

Direct access for endoscopy can be made as above.
