Paediatric Critical Care



Course Overview

This is a 3 module course designed to take a PIC nurse from new to specialty through to expert practitioner.

Module 2 is available for adult practitioners working in the general intensive care environment.

Module 1 - Essentials of Care and Interventions for Critically Ill Children

Module 1 is for internal students only.  This module focuses on the knowledge and skills required for nurses new to speciality and is accessed as a stand-alone module.

Module 2 - Foundations of Care and Interventions for Critically Ill Children

Focusing on the care of children with Level 2 (PIC standards 2010) critical care needs, practitioners will consolidate their knowledge and skills in the core elements of Paediatric Critical Care.  Alongside developing their ability to utlisise the evidence base to inform practice.

Module 3 - Enhanced Care and Interventions for Critically Ill Children

This module builds on clinical experience taking practitioners through to the knowledge, skills and competency required to care for complex Paediatric Critical Care patients.

This course is designed for nurses working in Paediatric Critical Care and for those in General Intensive Care who care for children on an ad hoc basis.
