Course Overview

These courses are designed for nurses working with children with congenital or acquired heart disease and those with cardiac rhythm disturbances.

Introduction to Children's Cardiac Nursing

This module will introduce the practitioner to the fundamental principles of caring for a child with a cardiac abnormality with reference to relevant research and evidence. Practitioners will develop their knowledge of normal and altered cardiac anatomy and physiology and it's application to safe and effective ward and high dependency focused nursing care and interventions.  

Children's Cardiac Enhanced Care & Management

This module will develop the practitioner's knowledge and management skills in the holistic care of children and young people with cardiac anomalies. Practitioners will expand their understanding of normal and altered cardiac anatomy and physiology to enable complex anomalies to be understood. Safe, effective, ward and high dependency focused nursing care and management will be explored with reference to relevant research and evidence.
