What we have been doing

Since the publication of the Independent Review of Children's Cardiac Services report and the CQC report on the 30th of June 2016 the Trust has been working on delivering the recommendations of these reports.  The recommendations broadly sit within 3 main categories;

  1. Women's and Children's services
  2. Consent  for surgery
  3. Supporting families and staff through incidents and complaints

A detailed action plan has been developed that you can view here. The Trust Board receives a monthly report to update them on our progress with the delivery of the recommendations. A more detailed update on progress to date can be viewed here.

 A group has been set up to oversee our progress which is chaired by Carolyn Mills, Chief Nurse of the Trust and Executive Lead for the children's hospital and has members from the clinical, managerial and the patient and family support teams.

Parents have already played an important role in bringing about change and improvements in how we deliver care. We are keen to have families involved in our delivery of the recommendations and we have already been talking with families about how best to do this. We recently held 2 listening events with families across the region where we asked for their feedback on paediatric cardiac services, you can view the newsletters from these events:
