How can you get involved?

Family involvement at the children's hospital

At the children's hospital we greatly value the significant contribution parents and familes have made to bring about changes and improvements in how we deliver care. We are committed to engaging and involving families to understand what's important to them, and what we can do to improve their experience of our hospital.

In September 2016 we ran a conversations event across the whole hospital that was about listening to families, patients and staff about what made them feel welcome as part of our hospital. Since that time we have been working to produce a hospital wide Charter that captures what people told us they wanted, we anticipate the roll out of the charter imminently.

How can you get involved?

We are very keen to have families involved in our delivery of the recommendations of the reports and we have already been talking to families about how they would like to work with us. There are a number of ways you can get involved;

- Participate in a Virtual Parents Reference Group - This group is for supporting developments and improvements in the cardiac service both in Bristol and the wider South West Network. It will review and approve, from a family perspective, actions taken as a result of the reports.

- Get involved in the improvement work- there will be different projects or pieces of work that would greatly benefit from your input as a parent or family member

- Share any other ideas or concerns.  We are happy to hear your suggestions for other work that would improve the experience of patients and families in our care.

If you are interested in any of these options please contact the LIAISE team on 0117 342 7444 or email with your telephone number and a good time to call.
